NANCY

This is Nicki (now Nancy )sent to OEH from penny paws rescue. She was brought over from Romania where she was born in a safe shelter and at 7 months we went to see this baby, she had escaped that life on the happy bus to England. The visit with our two beagles went bad.  This little girl was so traumatised and could not stand up .I asked Ian if he trusted me to look after this little girl, as I thought she wouldn’t survive kennels.  He agreed and took a gamble on us and home she came that very day. She's still petrified of men but just look at her now.  Thank you Ian x  Bevvers Rawcliffe

FRANK

We lost both of our dogs within 3 weeks of each other. I said that's it now no more dogs. ha ha I've said that before but we are a dog family. My friend directed us to OEH and there we met the beautiful Frank. That was it.We had a few meets so he met all the family and I am pleased to say he is now part of our family.  Christine Murray

BAILEY

Bailey - Our white wolf (Siberian Husky) that has boundless energy and loves to steal socks!
We rescued Bailey in January 2024 and from the first meet at the rescue we knew he’d be coming home with us (he did in fact try and jump in the car as we were leaving!)

Ian and the team were brilliant from our initial meets with Bailey prior to fostering and then through all of the fostering period.

Constant contact from them showed how much they do care that a dog gets the right home and they even offered advice on Bailey’s behaviour when asked.

Our clothing may never be hair free anymore but we wouldn’t trade him for the world. Chantelle Corcoran.

DEXTER

Dexter - American Bulldog we rescued just over a year ago. I say rescued but Alison Freed saved him from being pts and Ian and his team at OEH cared for him fabulously at their kennels before we came along.

It was soon after we lost our previous boy but once a dog person always I reckon. We were fortunate in that our lifestyle allowed us to consider another dog. We had a meet and my wife and I could see that Ian was really assessing us not Dexter!

When we collected him we understood that it was on a trial basis to ensure everything was right for Dexter. Just proves how Ian and OEH operate, with the needs of the dogs foremost, as it should be.

He has settled in superbly and everyone loves him. He had big paws to fill with the loss of our previous boy but he has certainly done it. He is a big soft lad and we love him to bits.

Thanks again Alison, Ian and OEH!                  David Hardman

LENNY

I saw a post on Facebook from Ian desperate for fosters to take dogs that needed to learn to be with a family in a home and the dog he needed to home was Lenny. He was so pretty with his little stump of a tail.

At first it took two to walk him he was so scared of buses cars and noises and walked hugging the wall but eventually his confidence grew. In the house he kept his distance till he realised it was his house too and he loved strokes and cuddles. We helped Ian out with fostering Mac and Sar for short periods but it became obvious that Lenny wasn't going anywhere. The thought of asking him to start again with another set of people seemed wrong so he's still here with us. He has his quirks like he still won't drink water indoors and you have to leave the room before he eats but if you can be patient these troubled pups give lots of love.   Jennifer Prior

BEAR

Bear has been the best dog I’ve ever rescued! Bit of a Houdini but new fencing has sorted that. He has taken his time to settle after his trauma but he did not deserve to be PTS. So glad I took him. He is my big Doofus and my best friend!!  Kenny Knox
